POSTED ON 8/21/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/19/2026

About ViDARR

ViDARR, Inc. is a defense-focused technology company founded by former U.S. special operations personnel. We design and build modular unmanned systems and mission-ready solutions through our Robotics and Defense divisions. Our work combines real-world operational insight with rapid engineering and testing.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Drone Pilot / UAS Operator to support flight testing and evaluation of small UAS platforms.

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, ideal for someone who prefers project-based work and flexibility.

You’ll be involved in real testing scenarios, working alongside engineering and R&D teams to validate performance and improve systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute manual (Angle and Acro) FPV flight operations with precision and control
  • Conduct repeatable test flights to support engineering validation and system performance
  • Identify flight behavior issues in real time and provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering
  • Troubleshoot and isolate issues across: Flight controller configuration, RF link (control video), Power systems and ESC behavior
  • Build, modify, and repair aircraft as needed (field and bench level)
  • Prepare and configure aircraft, radios, and ground systems for test events
  • Support scenario-based testing (range, urban, degraded environments)
  • Maintain flight logs, test notes, and observed anomalies
  • Operate in accordance with FAA Part 107 and internal safety standards

How the Engagement Works

  • Work is event-driven (test windows, development pushes, customer facing demonstrations)
  • Flexible scheduling based on availability and project needs
  • You can accept or decline assignments based on your availability
  • No guaranteed hours or ongoing schedule

What We’re Looking For

  • Flight Capability
  • Proven ability to fly FPV in full manual (Angle and Acro) mode
  • Confident control under dynamic conditions (not simulator-only experience)
  • Ability to demonstrate flight proficiency (video or live)

Technical Skillset

  • Hands-on experience with Betaflight (configuration, tuning, troubleshooting)
  • Working knowledge of PX4, ArduPilot, or iNAV
  • Strong understanding of: RC link systems (ELRS, Crossfire, etc.), Video transmission systems (analog/digital VTX), Power systems (LiPo/Li-ion behavior, ESCs, voltage sag)
  • Ability to diagnose and fix issues without step-by-step instruction

Hands-On Ability

  • Experience building, repairing, or modifying FPV drones
  • Comfortable with soldering, wiring, and component replacement
  • Ability to get an aircraft back in the air quickly after failure

Operational Mindset

  • Able to operate independently in a test environment
  • Strong situational awareness and risk judgment
  • Comfortable working in outdoor and field conditions

Baseline Requirements

FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate

Willingness to travel as needed

Ability to lift and move equipment (~50 lbs)

Preferred (Strong Differentiators)

  • Military or tactical small UAS experience
  • Experience operating in contested, urban, or RF-degraded environments
  • PID tuning and blackbox analysis experience
  • Experience supporting R&D, flight testing, or prototype development
  • Familiarity with long-range RF systems and antenna setup
  • Experience with custom payloads, onboard compute, or system integration

Important Notes

·      This is a contractor (1099) role, not a W-2 position

·      Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance

·      Work is performed using your own expertise and methods

·      On-site presence in Portsmouth, NH may be required
