Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional II plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide personal care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or in-home care.
- Monitor and document patient behavior, vital signs, and changes in condition to ensure appropriate care is provided.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs and preferences while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare meals and assist with cooking while considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medical appointments when necessary.
- Provide support for individuals with specific needs such as autism.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Experience in group home settings or similar environments is highly desirable.
- Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in behavior or health status.
- Background in home & community care or assisted living is beneficial.
- Proficient in patient monitoring techniques and understanding of medication administration protocols.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Knowledge of caregiving principles including meal preparation and care planning.
- Familiarity with long-term care practices and social work principles is advantageous.
