What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prevention Education Specialist position at VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM INC?
Victims of Violence Intervention Program, operating Artemis House Shelter, is seeking a part-time (20-32 hrs/week Prevention Education Specialist to join our team!
The Specialist will implement prevention education programming regarding domestic and sexual violence, sex trafficking, and stalking. The position will also lead the volunteer mentor program and assist in training and supervising volunteer mentors.
Victims of Violence Intervention Program, best known for running Artemis House Shelter in Spearfish, is a non-profit organization serving people affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in Lawrence, Harding and Butte counties in South Dakota. VVIP staff is made up of committed people working together to end violence in all forms in our service area.
Required experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree. Human Services or related field preferred (Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work).
- If no degree, must have some education and experience in Human Services field of work.
- Valid driver’s license
- Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues
- Community resource and agency knowledge
- Sensitivity and awareness of various local cultures of clients
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, able to perform duties with speed and accuracy, handle multiple tasks at once, work well under pressure, sound judgment and decision making skills, courteous and helpful, strong team player, maintain confidentiality, public speaking.
