JOB SUMMARY

Assistant Director of Security assists in overseeing security and transportation operations, often working closely with law enforcement, emergency services, and internal teams. Key responsibilities include developing security policies and procedures, managing security personnel, and ensuring the enforcement of security standards. They may also be involved in emergency response, crisis management, and conducting internal investigations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop comprehensive safety strategies tailored to Vicar's needs, covering aspects like threat assessments, risk management, and crime prevention, to ensure a secure environment for all staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Foster ongoing and transparent communication with leadership to align security strategies with organizational goals, focusing on safety initiatives, incident reporting, and resource or budget requirements.
  • Engage in workshops and programs to enhance knowledge of modern security practices, crisis management techniques, and staff development and share newly acquired skills with the security team, along with future industry advancements.
  • Maintain full accountability for managing all aspects of day-to-day safety and security activities in accordance with organizational goals and objectives
  • Supervise the performance of patrol and transportation duties of officers and any additional personnel assignments. Conduct performance evaluations for officers, providing constructive feedback and opportunities for improvement.
  • Produce new policies and procedures for the security department to maximize patrol efficiency and minimize property and personal crimes
  • Program/issue new/replacement Salto key fobs.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and integrity by implementing leadership strategies to motivate and inspire staff, promoting a positive and high-performing work environment.
  • Collaboration with other departments to ensure compliance with regulations. Provide expert advice and support to prevent non-compliance issues or safety breaches.
  • Assist with emergency drills with law enforcement, EMS, and fire departments, and develop plans for various emergencies test the organization’s readiness for different emergencies, including natural disasters, fire incidents, and active threats.
  • Perform additional tasks or responsibilities as delegated by leadership to support the organization's security and safety objectives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Skills, Abilities & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in security management, law enforcement, or a related area.
  • Proven leadership experience in supervising security or public safety teams.
  • Demonstrated success in policy creation, crisis management, and emergency response.
  • Proficiency in security monitoring systems, incident management software, and other related technologies.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety and security regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, leadership, and external agencies.
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities and the ability to maintain composure in tense scenarios.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk hear, and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and be able to work at heights. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus as well as work on a computer for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with other on the phone or in person.
