JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing workplace safety initiatives, ensuring organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. The Safety Coordinator serves as the primary advisor to leadership on safety matters, exercising independent judgment in designing and implementing programs to prevent workplace injuries and promote employee well-being. In addition, this role provides operational support to the Facility Manager, assisting in the coordination of facility maintenance, vendor management, and overall site functionality to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and evaluate workplace safety policies and initiatives aligned with organizational risk management goals.
- Serve as lead advisor to departments on safe work practices and emergency response planning.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set long-term safety goals and metrics.
- Analyze injury trends and safety data to recommend and implement proactive strategies.
- Coordinate safety training, programs, and safety guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to safety and health standards, policies, and procedures.
- Immediately notify leadership and supervisors of any safety and health concerns and/or problems.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Administer safety orientation for new hires and current employees.
- Investigate accidents and prepare incident reports.
- Maintain SDS files, upload them into company account, and ensure accessibility.
- Act as a 1st responder for medical emergencies and on-site injuries.
- Maintain records of 1st responder certification for CPR & First Aid.
- Provide subject matter expertise on safety-related systems and electronic reporting tools.
- Make recommendations to improve the Safety Program.
- Assist with vendor coordination, scheduling, and oversight for facility-related services (e.g., HVAC, janitorial, waste management, utilities).
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify safety hazards and compliance gaps.
- Assist in ensuring facility compliance with applicable building codes, environmental regulations, and internal standards.
- Partner with the Facility Manager to support emergency preparedness, including building systems and evacuation readiness.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree or certifications in related field.

Minimum of 2 years of related experience in workplace safety, risk management, or safety compliance.

Certification in First Aid, CPR, & AED, (required).

Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and applicable state/local safety regulations.

Experience with incident reporting systems and safety management software a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
