JOB SUMMARY:
The Machine Operator III is an advanced operator responsible for executing more complex sewing tasks and maintaining higher quality standards. This role includes working with multi-step programmable machines, performing guided turns, and using specialized sewing techniques such as double-needle topstitching and serger applications in detailed areas. The operator is expected to identify and correct most quality defects and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in machine operation and product quality.
Qualifications:JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate advanced semi-automated and programmable machines with multiple-step processes

Set up, adjust, and run machines using complex guides to ensure precision and quality output

Make turns and combine materials accurately using guides during production processes

Align and position materials correctly for multi-step operations and specialized stitching

Operate advanced machines (e.g., double-needle top-stitch machines, serger machines for joining materials such as gussets)

Demonstrate full understanding and recall of multi-step machine programming and sequencing

Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and quality

Remove, repair, or discard defective items according to quality standards

Ensure proper flow of materials to the next stage of production or to the Material Handler

Accurately track and document production counts and output
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and ensure machines are properly cleaned and maintained

Assume additional responsibilities, perform additional duties, and complete special projects across departments as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated proficiency in multiple machine operations, including advanced or specialized equipment

Ability to perform and maintain competency in multiple operator tasks within the department

Prior experience operating multi-step programmable or industrial sewing/production equipment preferred

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Strong understanding of production processes and product quality standards

Ability to follow complex, multi-step instructions and retain process workflows

Ability to identify and resolve quality defects independently

Strong attention to detail and precision in material handling and assembly

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Ability to maintain productivity standards in a fast-paced production setting

Basic math and counting skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
