JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising a production department. Train production workers, monitor productivity, and assure quantitative and qualitative production objectives are achieved.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assure policies and programs of the plant and organization are maintained
- Verify raw components being issued to the production floor against the work order
- Listen to employee concerns and complaints
- Provide counseling as needed
- Recommend priority and schedule changes
- Perform random quality checks
- Check and record work orders for each employee on each task assigned that day
- Record and maintain attendance files
- Adjust production and set up employees in workstations
- Check any machines, which are not in working order
- Thread machines and change needle as needed
- Clean machines and work area
- Train employees on all work instructions
- Returns and accounts for excess material returned to the warehouse
- Align production flow
- Check for raw materials, requisition them, and check materials once they have arrived
- Record production runs and assure information reported concerning each day’s production is accurate
- Schedule employees for production shifts
- Pack and count finished products. Prepare invoices for finished goods
- Assist plant manager in the production, development, and set-up of products or projects
- Plan and conduct bi-weekly meetings
- Review and recommend improvements in production
- Verify worked hours and submit for payroll each week
- Discipline and terminate
- Pick up raw materials from warehouse
- Perform quarterly inventories
- Deliver finished shipper to warehouse
- Assume additional responsibilities; perform additional duties, and complete special projects as assigned
- Must be able to report to workstation without assistance
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 4 years experience working in manufacturing
- Knowledge of computer job specific and time keeping software
- Knowledge of basic office equipment, including phone, fax, copy machine and paper shredder
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Bilingual preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to work and communicate with individuals with disabilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 5-10 pounds
- Must be able to conduct repetitive motions on a daily basis
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
