Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Development Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated test solutions for Viavi Solutions' cutting-edge optical and network testing products. This role involves working across the product lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring the highest quality and reliability of our offerings.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test equipment (ATE) and test programs for new and existing products, focusing on optical, electrical, and RF measurements.
• Collaborate with R&D, Hardware, Software, and Manufacturing teams to define test requirements, strategies, and methodologies.
• Develop test plans, test cases, and test specifications based on product requirements and industry standards.
• Program in various languages (e.g., Python, C , LabVIEW) to control test instrumentation, analyze data, and generate reports.
• Perform root cause analysis of test failures and implement corrective actions.
• Optimize test processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and throughput.
• Select, evaluate, and integrate new test equipment and technologies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Document test procedures, results, and design choices thoroughly.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the test engineering department.
  
  

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in test development engineering, preferably in the telecommunications, optical, or network testing industry.
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C , LabVIEW).
• Solid understanding of test methodologies, instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, optical power meters, network analyzers), and data acquisition.
• Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and test fixture design.
• Knowledge of optical communication principles and technologies (e.g., fiber optics, transceivers, DWDM) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with network protocols and testing (e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
