The Behavior Support Specialist will work with youth and adults who have behavioral challenges and provide support to help them achieve their goals. The specialist will work with a team of professionals to develop and implement behavior support plans, provide training to staff and caregivers, and monitor progress.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments
- Develop and implement behavior support plans
- Provide training to staff and caregivers on behavior management strategies
- Monitor progress and make adjustments to behavior support plans as needed
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists and social workers, to provide comprehensive support
- Document and maintain accurate records of services provided
- Attend meetings and provide updates on progress
- Provide Therapeutic Behavioral Services to clients by consulting with a licensed clinician to assist with the individual's needs.
- Provide service planning for individualized supports or care coordinator of healthcare, behavioral health, non-healthcare services and development of a treatment plan.
- Provide linkage, interventions, treatment options, restoration of daily life skills and crisis prevention services.
- Provide services to individual clients or groups of clients.
- Promote a positive and cooperative relationship with all outside contacts.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field, or at least 3 years of equivalent experience providing support to individuals with significant behavioral challenges.
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges
- Knowledge of mental health, behavior management strategies, and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
