ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join us. This position will be based out of our Orlando, FL office.
Work would begin in the summer 2026 and consist of a hybrid work setting.
Responsibilities
- Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design concepts and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects
- Support project development and environment (PD&E) studies, concept development studies, road safety assessments, and transportation planning documentation
- Research, collect, tabulate, interpret, and summarize data
- Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting summaries, and public meeting materials
- Develop preliminary design plans
- Develop engineer’s construction cost estimates
- Document and communicate findings from field observations and data collection
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently as well as on a team
- Ability to work in an office or virtual environment
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed
- Strong computer skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering
- 0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experience
- Engineer in Training certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months, preferred
- OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD/Civil3D, Synchro, ConceptStation experience a plus
