Position Summary

VGM Facility Services personal achieve success through being professional, friendly and detail oriented. Janitors provide clean, safe, inviting, and ready to use facilities for all staff and guests. Janitors are the representatives of the visual appearance of the VGM brand to all staff and guests entering the property. Through safe, and appropriate use of cleaning supplies, techniques and responsiveness, Janitors will ensure a high-quality working space for guests and staff at all times.

Reporting Accountability: Facilities Lead

Working Location: Waterloo, IA

Work Hours Classification: 9:00am- 6:00pm, Monday-Friday

Responsibilities/Duties Of The Job

• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets, trash containers; refill restroom dispensers; replace light bulbs.
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets as scheduled.
• Maintain appearance of the outside of buildings, including mowing, trimming and de-weeding, snow removal around property at any of our VGM locations.
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
• Attend to emergencies when necessary.
• Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
• Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid,
• CPR and working relationships.
• Handle recycling materials.
• Assist with inventory control and security.
• Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.
• Support and enforce all policies of the VGM Group, such as health and safety regulations, guidelines, etc.
  
  

Position Qualifications

• Maintain appropriate service, repair and Janitorial records
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for Janitorial, Service and Repair needs
• Assist and serve as back up to other Facilities/Janitorial and Facilities/Maintenance employees when needed. This may include working different hours as needed, or one of our other locations.
