Help
Serves as the lead point of contact for DoWEA Regional Directors and Chiefs of Staff regarding all personnel security matters.
Provides technical oversight of, and expertise regarding, the centralized background check and suitability determinations.
Assists the Insider Threat Program Manager with the overall development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the DoWEA Insider Threat program.
Performs a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities.
Interprets and implements personnel suitability policy, guidelines, and directives.
Prepares recommendations for revisions to policy and drafts procedural guidelines.
Manages the teams continuous vetting program to ensure that DoWEA employees with a favorable security/suitability/child care determination remain eligible.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing and analyzing background investigation reports independently to identify adverse, derogatory, or complex security issues, and applying federal suitability, fitness, and adjudicative guidelines to render final determinations for tiered federal background investigations, this includes resolving complex, precedent-setting, or high-visibility cases with limited guidance. Utilizing automated information technology systems to initiate, track, and manage personnel security caseloads, to include electronic fingerprint submissions, state-specific manual fingerprint processes, and jurisdiction-specific release authorizations, applying technical and procedural knowledge to ensure compliance, accuracy, and reliability across multiple regulatory requirements. Leading, coordinating, or working collaboratively with a geographically separated team of personnel security or suitability specialists, and providing technical guidance, case oversight, workload coordination, and quality assurance of adjudicative and suitability determinations. Developing, implementing, or providing expert input to personnel security or adjudicative policies, procedures, programs, or standards, including interpreting regulatory guidance and supporting program improvements and risk-informed decision-making. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
