Job Summary
Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for complex grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors grants, contracts, and budgets. Maintains award-related schedules, prepares complex government applications and reports, and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, performs internal audits, resolves complex issues, and reviews routine financial documents. Develops and implements accounting techniques and procedures for operational improvements and assists with managing special projects and preparing operating budgets.
Essential Functions
This position requires the appropriate application of a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in the field of research accounting, post and pre-award administration. Instructs and guides faculty and their support staff with applications and proposal budgets for sponsored research. Contributes to the development of departmental policies and determines actual procedures regarding grant submissions. Collaborates with faculty and administrators in other university departments and at other institutions in the preparation of grant applications. Accounting and Level Report reconciliation; formulate, monitor, and control budgets; analyze budgets and provide reports to project directors. Provides financial and administrative support to the Chairman. Assists lab and administrative staff on special projects as determined by faculty.
Physical Effort
Light physical effort required. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
