Building Science Testing Technician – Denver, Colorado

Intertek's Building and Construction division is a suite of Intertek brands that are industry leaders across multiple architecture, engineering and construction disciplines, developing the most innovative product and project solutions. Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection and consulting services are the risk management and quality assurance partner you need to ensure the reliability, safety and performance of your new developments, existing assets and facilities. Intertek’s Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
What are we looking for?
As a Building Science Technician, you will have the opportunity to perform field testing, observations, and inspection of construction materials (below grade waterproofing, air barriers, cladding, glazing and roofing systems. Work varies by size/location, but includes commercial, residential, higher education, healthcare and large municipal projects. This position will travel as business needs indicate, up to 15% overnight/out of town travel.
Shift/Schedule: Monday – Friday core business hours (may vary slightly)
Salary & Benefits Information:
The base wage or salary for this position is $20-32 per hour dependent on experience. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

What You’ll Do:
Perform a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (i.e., air and water infiltration)
Provide assessment of data through reporting
Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams
Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks
Make detailed observations and provide recommendations for improvements
Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
Communicate effectively with client and project teams

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
Must have experience with Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis by GC
Must have experience doing shiftwork including nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be willing to work Night Shift
Must have experience formatting and reporting lab data directly to customers
Must have experience with chemical and gas inventory management
Ability to work in fast‐paced, multi‐tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
Must be detailed‐oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
Must be customer focused and quality driven
Must demonstrate ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
Must possess good math and observation skills
Must demonstrate proficiency using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes
Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination and cooperation
Must demonstrate ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
Must demonstrate ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation
Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Must be able to work overtime as business needs dictate
Preferred Requirements And Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Prefer Successful Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results and possess a mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with Quality Assurance policies and procedures which relate to the control, storage, and disposition of test specimens
General construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power tools
Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more, sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties
Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
Ability to travel as business needs indicate - Up to 15% overnight/out of town
Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
Degree in a technical field desired, or equivalent related experience
Construction, glazing, roofing or similar general construction backgroundof at least one semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
