What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEAD SETTER position at Veterans Roofing?
THE ROLE
As a Lead Setter at Veterans Roofing, you're the spark plug of our sales engine. Working from our Northfield office, you'll be the first voice a homeowner hears after they reach out to us — calling warm inbound leads, following up with homeowners who requested an inspection, and nurturing older opportunities back to life. Your job isn't to sell a roof. Your job is to earn the appointment: qualify the homeowner, confirm the need, handle the objections, and book a confirmed seat for our Outside Sales Representatives. When you set a quality appointment that runs and closes, the whole company wins — and so do you. This is an ideal role for someone with phone presence, genuine curiosity, and the hunger to turn conversations into pipeline. We'll train you on our products, process, and CRM — you bring the energy, the work ethic, and the follow-through.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Call warm inbound leads within minutes of submission and book free inspection appointments for our Outside Sales Representatives
Follow up with homeowners who requested an inspection but haven't been scheduled, confirming interest and locking in a time
Re-engage and nurture older leads, unsold estimates, and previous inquiries that never converted — bringing dormant opportunities back into the pipeline
Qualify every homeowner: confirm the project type, timeline, decision-makers, insurance involvement, and whether they're ready to meet with a specialist
Handle objections professionally — 'just researching,' 'not ready yet,' 'waiting on tax refund,' 'need to talk to my spouse' — and close for the appointment, not the sale
Confirm appointments 24–48 hours out to reduce cancellations and no-shows, and rebook cancelled or missed appointments
Hit and exceed daily and weekly appointment-set, confirmation, and sit-rate goals
Maintain accurate, detailed notes on every call in AccuLynx — disposition, homeowner needs, objections, next steps, and follow-up timing
Coordinate with the sales team on scheduling, territory, and lead handoff so every appointment is set up to run
Communicate our value proposition clearly — veteran-owned, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, free inspection, no obligation — so homeowners understand why meeting with us is worth their time
Identify urgent or emergency situations (active leaks, storm damage) and escalate them for same-day or priority scheduling
Support marketing and lead-source feedback by flagging lead-quality trends, bad phone numbers, and recurring homeowner concerns
Participate in weekly sales training, role-play, and coaching sessions to sharpen your phone skills and product knowledge
WHAT YOU BRING
Excellent phone presence — you sound warm, confident, and genuinely interested in the person on the other end
Strong verbal communication and active listening — you ask good questions and actually hear the answers
Comfortable making 60–100 outbound dials a day and handling objections without getting rattled
Highly organized and detail-oriented — you keep clean notes and never lose track of a follow-up
Comfortable learning CRM software (we use AccuLynx) and basic scheduling tools
Self-motivated and goal-driven — you treat your daily call count and set rate as a personal scoreboard
Resilient and coachable — you don't take a 'no' personally, and you're hungry to get better every week
Prior experience in appointment setting, inside sales, call-center, customer service, or home-improvement lead intake is a strong plus but not required — we train the right person
High school diploma or equivalent; must be 18 or older
Reliable transportation to our Northfield office
Veterans and military spouses strongly encouraged to apply
