Job description:
- Veterans Range Solutions, LLC dba Veterans Readiness Solutions (VRS), a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) is seeking an experienced Automotive and Diesel Truck Mechanic. The incumbent must possess knowledge and skills in the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide variety of vehicle platforms, construction equipment, and ground support equipment and their systems. The incumbent must be able to read and interpret technical and parts manuals. The incumbent must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to properly utilize a wide variety of hand and powered tools and equipment to complete repairs. The incumbent must be able to evaluate vehicles and equipment to determine level of repair required and must be able to estimate time and materials required to complete repairs. The incumbent must possess a mechanic’s tool set. Primary location for this position is Sanford, NC. Travel to other project locations is expected where required.
Duties:
- Diagnose and repair all automotive, truck, construction equipment and ground support equipment systems to include engines, transmissions, drive axles, chassis/suspension, brake, electrical, fuel, cooling, computers, exhaust, hydraulics, air conditioning and their subsystems and components.
- Perform routine maintenance and services as required by manufacturer and military standards and maintenance and service interval tables.
- Perform technical inspections of vehicles or equipment and provide time and material estimates for unscheduled maintenance and repairs.
- Replace worn and/or defective parts as necessary.
- Follow safety and sanitation rules such as Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and any other requirements of the job site.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality of the work being performed and certify that such work meets specifications contained or referenced in technical manuals, shop manuals, change bulletins, and/or the manufacturer’s commercial technical data.
- Solve work related problems in addition to determining materials and equipment necessary to complete task(s).
- Complete technical reports as required.
- Maintain accountability, maintenance and care of company-provided vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Interpret federal specifications, military standards, and contract specifications and incorporate those requirements into the repair/maintenance process.
- Read and comply with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemicals used in the repair process.
- Comply with shop operating rules and regulations.
Experience preference:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in automotive and/or diesel/medium-heavy truck repair
- ASE Certified Auto/Light Truck Technician (any or all of test series A1-A8)
- ASE Certified Military Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Technician (any or all of test series MIL2-MIL8)
- ASE Certified Medium-Heavy Truck Technician (any or all of test series T1-T8)
- Completion of an accredited vehicle repair and/or maintenance technical course
- Certified Caterpillar, DDEC, and/or Cummins technician
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
