Seeking a US Veteran, Guardsman, Reservist, and/or Military Spouse for a Workshop Technician (Diesel Mechanic) opportunity. The Technician reports directly to the Workshop Supervisor/Manager and plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Commercial Trucks in accordance with our clients' operational standards. This position performs advanced diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance, identifying root causes through electronic diagnostic tools and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure the operational readiness of critical support assets.
Pay: $29 - $43/hr.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
- Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on gasoline, diesel, and electrically powered Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Commercial Trucks in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Utilize OEM software, scan tools, electrical test equipment, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics to identify root causes and perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs.
- Conduct operational testing to verify repair effectiveness and ensure equipment readiness for service.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspect equipment for wear, leaks, electrical faults, hydraulic performance issues, fluid levels, lights, and overall condition to maintain asset reliability and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Recommend and complete corrective repairs to minimize downtime and prevent operational disruptions.
- Perform refurbishing tasks, including fabrication, body work, painting, welding, and upholstery, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Ensure safe and secure transport of GSE and Commercial Trucks.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workplace in accordance with 5S principles.
- Consistently document all maintenance activities using the 3C’s process (Complaint, Cause, Correction) within the tablet and FSM system to ensure accurate and standardized work order management.
- Accurately record labor, parts usage, repair status, and all required details in SAP or the designated maintenance system, ensuring timely and complete work order closure.
- Scan and assign spare parts to work orders to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Complete required maintenance checklists and upload supporting documentation, including photos.
- Communicate job status, technical findings, delays, resource needs and any damage or work outside the prescribed scope to the Supervisor to determine appropriate next steps.
- Adhere to timekeeping procedures and 90% productivity expectations
- Follow all airport safety regulations and airside operating procedures.
- Comply with lockout/tagout procedures, equipment isolation requirements, and proper use of PPE.
- Proactively report hazards, equipment defects, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately.
- Actively participate in occupational, environmental, health, and safety programs by adhering to policies, reporting unsafe conditions, and sharing improvement ideas.
- Prioritize workload to meet productivity targets and customer requirements.
- Perform on-call responsibilities as required, ensuring timely response to urgent operational needs in accordance with the company’s on-call policy.
- Share technical knowledge and provide support to team members as needed to promote consistent repair quality and operational continuity.
- Promote a positive and professional team environment by communicating clearly, treating colleagues with respect and serving as a role model for proper workshop behavior, including order, tidiness, and punctuality.
- Maintain flexibility during workload fluctuations and perform other duties as assigned to support operational objectives.
Requirements:
- US Veteran, Guardsman, Reservist, and/or Military Spouse
- Strong technical expertise in gas, diesel, and electric-powered vehicles and equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics, with the ability to perform independent troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to interpret schematics, diagnostic codes, vehicle operation manuals, and maintenance plans to support accurate diagnostics and repair.
- In-depth knowledge of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Commercial Trucks, including local regulations and airport operational standards.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Solid understanding of safety, quality, and maintenance compliance standards.
- Proficient in SAP or comparable maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office 365.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
