About the role
General Motors is seeking a Facilities Management Representative to join the Flint Metal Center manufacturing engineering and facilities team. In this role, you will help ensure the safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of plant facilities, utilities, infrastructure, building systems, and contracted services that support manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, safety and industrial hygiene, environmental, finance, supply chain, skilled trades, and external service providers to resolve facility issues, coordinate projects, improve service delivery, and sustain reliable plant operations. The ideal candidate is a technically capable, highly organized facilities professional who is comfortable working on the plant floor, managing multiple priorities, coordinating vendors, and driving issues through closure.
What you'll do
Coordinate daily facilities services across the Flint Metal Center, including building maintenance, housekeeping, space and tenant services, property maintenance, scrap removal, and related support activities.
Support the reliable operation of plant utilities and infrastructure, including compressed air, chilled water, electrical distribution, wastewater systems, fire protection, and other site utility systems as assigned.
Review work orders, job and project status, shift notes, service reports, and open issues; prioritize actions based on safety, production impact, compliance, cost, and customer need.
Maintain regular plant-floor presence and respond to facility calls, special requests, abnormal conditions, and emerging risks.
Lead or coordinate facility repairs, replacements, minor renovations, infrastructure improvements, and other projects required to sustain plant operations.
Develop scopes of work, timing, estimates, priorities, and execution plans; coordinate stakeholders through project completion and closeout.
Provide technical direction and oversight to outside vendors, contractors, and integrated facilities-service providers.
Coordinate pre-task planning, permits, contractor controls, work-area communication, and other requirements before facility work begins.
Maintain accurate records and update applicable systems, including SAP, Maximo, Corrigo, CAP trackers, and other plant reporting tools.
Support implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the Flint Metal Center Facility Safety Management Program and applicable Workplace Safety System requirements.
Coordinate with Safety and Industrial Hygiene on facility-related hazards, corrective actions, written programs, inspections, safety observation tours, and annual program reviews.
Support contractor safety, confined-space controls, hazardous-energy controls, crane and hoist safety, chemical controls, fire protection, emergency preparedness, and other facility safety processes as assigned.
Participate in incident reviews, risk assessments, structured problem solving, and corrective-action development; verify that actions are sustained.
Monitor key performance indicators for facilities services, work-order completion, contractor performance, costs, cleanliness, safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Prepare and communicate status updates, escalation summaries, scorecards, and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Use GMS principles and continuous-improvement methods to eliminate recurring issues, improve facility reliability, reduce waste, and control costs.
Provide technical guidance, coordination, and knowledge transfer to less-experienced facilities personnel and plant partners.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, this role is On-Site at the location detailed in the job post.
