The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is the senior technical leader at Zeus’s Orangeburg facility—the company’s largest and most complex plant. This role ensures technical excellence, mentors a high-potential team, and translates engineering and maintenance execution into operational and business outcomes. The mission: strengthen systems, solve problems at scale, and elevate the technical capability of the site to support life-saving medical device manufacturing.
Performance Objectives
Within the first 12–18 months, success will be measured by the ability to:
- Establish technical leadership – Guide maintenance, engineering, and production teams to “what good looks like” in modern manufacturing practices.
- Capture and deploy knowledge – Blend institutional experience of long-tenured staff with new systems to standardize processes and improve reliability.
- Implement systems improvements – Lead the rollout of a more robust Preventive Maintenance (PM) program and support onboarding of new corporate-level maintenance systems.
- Drive coordinated problem-solving – Act as the “Executive Officer” (EXO) for the plant: organize cross-functional technical teams, reduce unplanned downtime, and accelerate root-cause solutions.
- Bridge technical and business communication – Translate complex technical issues into operational and financial language for plant leadership, ensuring decisions align with performance outcomes.
- Deliver quick wins and long-term impact – Achieve early improvements (equipment uptime, process efficiency) while building a foundation for strategic projects.
- Calm in the storm – Brings order and organization when challenges arise.

- Must have served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Reserves, or U.S. National Guard.
- Engineering degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical experience.
- Proven background in manufacturing operations, maintenance leadership, or process improvement.
- Experience in maintenance systems, process troubleshooting, and technical team management.
- Ability to translate technical detail into business outcomes for leadership decision-making.
- Military alignment: Veterans with Executive Officer (EXO), Maintenance/Engineering Officer, or Technical Operations leadership experience will recognize strong parallels to this role.
