Position Summary:
VETS is looking to fill this position with a nationally or internationally recognized technical authority in one or more specialized test and evaluation (T&E) engineering disciplines. In this role, you would provide authoritative technical guidance and innovation leadership for the Potomac River Test Range's (PRTR) most technically demanding test programs, advise on strategic T&E decisions, and serve as a recognized expert interfacing with Government, other contractors, and the broader T&E community.
Examples of relevant SME disciplines include, but are not limited to: Instrumentation Application, Instrumentation Science & Technology (S&T), Explosives Safety, and Ammunition T&E. Applicable site certifications and training must be obtained and maintained during performance, as applicable per position and contract requirements (e.g., Explosive Handler/Ordnance Worker, UXO qualifications). As part of showing interest, please identify ability to work full-time at Dahlgren and any specialized expertise and mentoring capabilities that you are able to bring to the team.
Desired Experience:
· At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in a relevant engineering field, with a significant portion of that experience (at least 8 years) as a recognized SME in T&E
· Extensive and in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline critical to T&E, with a recognized reputation as a leading expert in the field (Instrumentation Application, Instrumentation Science and Technology (S&T), Explosives Safety, Ammunition T&E, etc.)
· Demonstrated mastery of advanced engineering principles, techniques, and methodologies specific to T&E
· Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to address the most challenging technical issues in T&E
· Demonstrated communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences
· Proven ability to influence strategic decision-making related to T&E and drive innovation within the organization
· Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Government, other Contractors, and Engineers to address complex T&E problems
Desired Qualifications:
· Significant experience working on highly complex and critical T&E projects for military or government agencies
· National or international recognition as a leading expert in T&E
· Extensive experience presenting at industry conferences and publishing technical articles related to T&E
· Active participation in relevant industry standards committees related to T&E
Education/Certifications:
· Master's degree or Ph.D. in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline strongly desired. A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited institution in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline combined with extraordinary experience may be substituted for an advanced degree.
· Active SECRET security clearance
· Relevant professional certifications in the specific SME area are desired.
Physical & Travel Requirements:
· Must be able to work in a dynamic test range environment. Some work may be conducted in or near areas with explosive materials, high noise, high voltage, heavy equipment, and hazardous chemicals. Must be capable of wearing appropriate PPE as required by duty assignment. Ability to travel CONUS with as little as 24-hour notice. Occasional OCONUS travel may be required.

Salary : $170,000 - $195,000
