Park Monitor Job Description
Hours: Part Time (20 hours per week)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
The Park Monitor is responsible for overseeing community park and recreational areas to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and guests. This role focuses on monitoring activity, enforcing community rules, and providing basic assistance as needed. The Park Monitor serves as a visible presence to promote compliance and enhance the overall resident experience.
RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:
- Monitor park areas, playgrounds, and recreational spaces to ensure safety and rule compliance
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of assigned areas during scheduled shifts
- Observe and report any unsafe conditions, damages, or maintenance concerns
- Politely and professionally remind residents and guests of community rules and guidelines
- Address minor violations (e.g., littering, unauthorized use, pets off-leash if applicable)
- Escalate concerns or repeated violations to management or security as needed
- Provide general assistance and answer basic questions from residents and guests
- Ensure individuals are not in need of help or support while utilizing park amenities
- Maintain a friendly, approachable, and professional presence at all times
- Help maintain a clean environment by identifying and reporting trash, hazards, or vandalism
- Ensure park amenities are being used safely and appropriately
- Respond appropriately in the event of minor incidents and report accordingly
- Document and report incidents, concerns, or unusual activity to management
- Maintain clear and timely communication with supervisors regarding daily activity
REQUIRED EXPEREINCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or some college degree
- Active/Valid Drivers License
- Previous experience in customer service, security, or community support roles preferred
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to remain professional and calm when addressing concerns
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to enforce rules in a respectful and professional manner
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIROMENT:
- Requires the ability to operate a motorized vehicle (e.g., golf cart) safely and in accordance with community guidelines
- Outdoor role within community parks and recreational areas
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
