Job Summary:
Vertex Innovations, Inc. is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Data Center Business Development Sales Representative to join our team. The right candidate must demonstrate proven ability to build relationships and drive sales across the whole data center ecosystem, including hyperscale cloud providers, colocation & wholesale data center operators, telecom & infrastructure-linked operators, data center engineering & construction firms, equipment & technology providers, and specialty/edge & emerging partners, by aligning solutions to each segment’s unique needs. This role is responsible for selling a range of professional services, including owner representation, project management, construction management, staff augmentation, and critical facility staffing. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to identify and close new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy & Pipeline Development
- Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to each target segment, focusing on high-growth sectors aligned with Vertex Innovations' offerings.
- Build and manage a sales pipeline, identifying high-potential leads and progressing them through the sales cycle.
- Ability to build and maintain executive-level relationships across the data center ecosystem, including hyperscale cloud providers, colocation and wholesale operators, telecom carriers, construction firms, and equipment manufacturers.
- Use HubSpot CRM software to track sales activities, opportunities, and pipeline health, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to leadership.
- Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Identify, engage, and build relationships with key decision-makers in target industries, including owners, project managers, construction managers, general/specialty contractors, and critical facility managers.
- Have an existing network of contacts within hyperscale, colocation, or telecom data center organizations.
- Proactively pursue new business opportunities and introduce Vertex’s service offerings to new and existing clients.
- Experience selling into engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms or critical infrastructure service providers.
- Proposal Development & Contract Negotiation
- Work closely with internal teams to create compelling proposals that align with client needs and Vertex’s service capabilities.
- Lead contract negotiations, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements and alignment with Vertex's financial and operational guidelines.
- Follow up on proposals and actively seek feedback to refine approach and close deals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal teams, including project management, operations, engineering, and marketing, to ensure Vertex delivers a seamless, high-quality service experience.
- Work with marketing to develop industry-specific content and sales collateral that support business development efforts.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define sales objectives, metrics, and key performance indicators.
- Industry Knowledge & Continuous Learning
- Familiarity with power, cooling, and connectivity technologies relevant to modern data centers.
- Actively participate in industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to enhance Vertex’s visibility and create new connections.
- Position Vertex as a thought leader in the whole data center ecosystem—including hyperscale cloud providers, colocation and wholesale operators, telecom infrastructure players, engineering and construction firms, and equipment manufacturers.
- Background in managed services, SaaS, or integrated solutions tailored to data center environments.
- Reporting & Performance Metrics
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and KPI expectations.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on sales pipeline status, revenue forecasts, and market feedback.
- Analyze sales performance metrics and use insights to improve approach and tactics continuously.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or ten-plus years of relevant job experience.
- 10 years of progressively expanding responsibilities and experience in telecommunications, networking, technology management, or data center operations.
- 10 years of progressive experience managing project and department budgets.
- Project process, best practice, and standard development experience.
- Technically savvy with the ability to adapt to modern software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others and implement strategies that impact business operations.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.

Compensation:
- $150,000 - $200,000 base, DOE
- $100k - $200k performance-based commission potential
