Interim Payroll Consultant

The Interim Payroll Consultant will provide part-time support for a multistate payroll operation. This role will focus on ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while also assessing current workflows, identifying gaps, and helping implement more efficient processes. The consultant will partner closely with HR leadership to stabilize payroll operations and build stronger documentation and best practices for long-term success.

Worksite Location: Hybrid - Minneapolis, MN

Salary Range: Hourly rate between $40-$50, DOE

Roles & Responsibilities

• Process semi monthly payroll accurately and on schedule
• Review and validate payroll data, ensuring accuracy prior to submission
• Manage multistate payroll considerations and compliance requirements
• Serve as the final checkpoint for payroll approvals before processing
• Partner with HR leadership to assess current payroll workflows and identify improvement opportunities
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes
• Audit existing payroll practices to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Recommend enhancements to system usage and process automation
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure payroll continuity
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience processing multistate payroll
• Strong proficiency with payroll systems (Paylocity or similar preferred)
• Experience assessing and improving payroll processes
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage deadlines and work efficiently in a part-time capacity
• Experience documenting processes and creating SOPs
