When most people think of a professional Motorsports team, the race events, competitive driving and service crews at events first comes to mind. The reality is a professional Motorsports team requires extensive behind the scenes support through planning and preparation to ensure the best chance of success on race day. This position supports the team in several Accounting areas to help the team achieve its goals. Working closely with the President and Accounting Assistant, this role requires a self-starting and largely self-managing personality with a strong ability to triage and prioritize tasks as necessary with some direction and assistance from the President.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversees VSC Accounting functions including bookkeeping, financial accounting, accounts payable & receivable, and payroll.
Consults with President and Owner on fiscal administration and budget procedures.
Works with President and Owner to create and maintain departmental budgets.
Works with Team Directors, Managers and Department Heads to action spend requests including wire transfers, Per Diem management, etc.
Works with Parts Department and Project Leaders to assist with timely payment of spending as required.
Creates and shares external accounting reports with financial institutes, insurance companies, or government agencies as required.
Prepares periodic financial statements and reports for internal use.
Participates in recruiting process for accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.
Adhere to safety protocols outlined by VSC.
Perform all duties in a responsible manner that best represents Vermont SportsCar, the sport of Rally and and our sponsors.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, including preparing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal financial controls; coordinate internal and external audits.
Works with external CPA firm on annual tax filings and financial review.
Perform other related duties, as necessary.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Knowledge of office practices and clerical/accounting procedures.
Valid driver’s license
Maintain the highest standards of work quality, cleanliness and presentation set forth by VSC
Adhere to safety protocols outlined by VSC
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance
5-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role
Strong knowledge/experience of Oracle NetSuite
Experience with BambooHR preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, individuals may frequently be required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly required to talk and hear.
The individual must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus as required.
