Job Title: Residence Hall Dorm ParentLocation: Rice Memorial High School, South Burlington, VermontType: 10-Month, Residential PositionCompensation: Includes stipend, on-campus housing, and meals during the academic yearPosition OverviewRice Memorial High School, a co-educational Catholic college preparatory school serving grades 9 through post-graduate, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to serve as a Residence Hall Proctor (Dorm Parent). This role is central to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive living environment for students in our boarding program.ResponsibilitiesThe Dorm Parents responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Residential Life Presence: Live in the residence hall during the academic year.Be available for various shifts (day, evening/overnight, weekends, holidays, school breaks) as scheduled. The expectation is to work three nights a week.Student Supervision & Support: Build a positive and inclusive dormitory culture.Perform safety and wellness checks, including rounds, lights out, and room checks.Provide first aid or facilitate medical care in coordination with the school nurse or local medical facilities.Program Administration: Uphold and enforce boarding program rules and routines.Manage administrative tasks while on duty (phones, forms, attendance, filing, etc.).Supervise and support student events, activities, and outings.Help drive shuttle buses for student pickup and drop-off as scheduled.Conducting routine room visits and check-ins during study hall/quiet hoursCommunity Building: Engage students in a hospitable and culturally respectful environment.Foster open communication and support students' social and emotional development.Plan and coordinate regular dorm community events with the director of residential life.Team Collaboration: Attend orientation and training before school opens and other professional development throughout the school year.Work collaboratively with other dorm parents and school staff.Exercise sound judgment and decision-making, especially under pressure.BenefitsStipend, furnished housing, and meals with an estimated value of $19,550.Opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse community
