Role Description The Government Client Executive is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, focused on managing and growing relationships with local and regional government and broader public sector clients. This role is responsible for understanding government customer needs, presenting Verizon Connect solutions, and driving adoption of telematics and fleet management technologies to support safety and efficiency goals. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and qualifying public sector opportunities, delivering product demonstrations, preparing proposals and RFP responses, and negotiating contracts in line with public procurement processes. The Government Client Executive will collaborate closely with internal teams such as sales engineering, customer success, and product to address customer requirements and ensure successful implementation. The role also includes monitoring account performance, providing ongoing account management, and representing Verizon Connect at relevant government and industry events.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Government Relations, with experience engaging Local Government and Public Sector organizations.
- Strong Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technology and data-driven solutions to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated Analytical Skills to interpret customer data, identify trends, and build compelling business cases for government clients.
- Experience navigating public procurement, RFP/RFQ processes, and contract negotiations in a government or public sector context.
- Proven track record in B2B or public sector account management, business development, or enterprise sales, preferably in technology, SaaS, or telematics.
- Ability to build long-term, trust-based relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and cross-functional teams.
- Comfort working on-site with clients, conducting in-person meetings, and representing the company at industry and government forums.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Familiarity with fleet management, transportation, or safety-focused technology solutions is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, including pipeline management, territory planning, and use of CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
