Position Title – Senior Associate, Underwriter
Location – Chevy Chase, MD (hybrid 4 days in office)
Position Summary
This Senior Associate or Associate level position is a newly opened opportunity within one of the region’s largest investment banking teams based in Chevy Chase, MD with over $6B in AUM which works with private equity sponsored businesses operating in the middle market throughout the US. This opening with join the company’s Healthcare Finance Division and support underwriting processes for new deal and lending opportunities including in depth financial statement analysis, performing financial due diligence, performance reporting, and supporting the commercial lending process. This Senior Associate or Associate position will offer a compensation package in the $140,000 to $165,000 range comprised of a base salary up to $125,000, an annual bonus target between 20%-35%, excellent benefits and career mobility, as well as a hybrid flexible (4 days in office) work schedule. This is an unique opportunity for candidates with 2-5 years of public accounting financial audit or M&A transactions experience to pivot into investment banking commercial lending sector within a growing and leading organization.
Job Description
- Analyze potential direct loan origination opportunities and loan participation opportunities to providers of healthcare services and owners of healthcare real estate
- Model financial projections and run sensitivity analyses to assess a firm’s potential to repay its loan under various economic scenarios
- Perform financial due diligence on target companies
- Prepare and present loan investment screening memos to Healthcare Finance leadership
- Actively engage with various transaction parties (e.g., borrower, broker, etc.) during such diligence
- Prepare loan investment approval write-ups to present to the Bank’s credit committee
- Coordinate loan closings with the Portfolio Management and Operations team
- Work with portfolio management team to monitor and track the financial performance of companies in the loan portfolio and prepare performance update memorandums
- Support the AVP’s and VP’s of the Healthcare Finance Division to grow the Healthcare Finance business. The main function of this position is to assist the AVP’s and VP’s with analyzing, evaluating, documenting, and closing loan opportunities.
- Assist in ad hoc/special projects and other duties on an as needed basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- CPA or CFA a plus
- Minimum of two to five years of experience in a public accounting, financial consulting, valuation, leveraged finance, investment banking, or another area of finance or accounting.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting, including financial statement analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels in the organization.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work onsite in Chevy Chase, MD on hybrid basis 4 days a week.
Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
