The General Clerk III – Witness Management Support provides administrative and operational support to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) in support of the Witness Management Program. This role supports federal legal proceedings by coordinating witness travel, assisting with reimbursement processes, and ensuring witnesses are prepared for court appearances, pre-trial conferences, and grand jury proceedings.
This position plays a critical role in supporting federal prosecutors, Victim-Witness personnel, and court operations through accurate, timely, and professional administrative support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The General Clerk III will:
- Serve as a point of contact for witnesses, responding to inquiries regarding court appearances and reimbursements
- Coordinate witness travel, lodging, and scheduling in accordance with Department of Justice policies
- Notify witnesses of appearance dates, times, and required documentation
- Identify and escalate special circumstances to appropriate legal staff
- Assist witnesses upon arrival for court or pre-trial proceedings
- Provide courtroom orientation and ensure appropriate waiting arrangements
- Coordinate with attorneys and staff regarding witness schedules and needs
- Prepare and submit witness vouchers and reimbursement documentation
- Track and provide status updates on pending and completed payments
- Reconcile travel documentation and coordinate with government travel systems
- Maintain witness files, records, and databases in accordance with DOJ requirements
- Track court dates, hearings, and scheduling activities
- Prepare correspondence and documentation related to witness management
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including courts and law enforcement agencies
- Perform general administrative duties to support witness management operations
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of administrative or clerical experience
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Experience managing files, records, and data systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting legal, court, or government operations
- Familiarity with federal administrative or case management processes

Work Schedule
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Monday through Friday schedule; federal holidays observed
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
