Our Optometric Technicians are responsible for maintaining a smooth patient flow after the patient has checked into the practice until they are ready to see their Optometrist.

What You'll Do
As the primary technical support for our Optometrists, your day-to-day will include:
- Patient Coordination: Directing the flow of patients examined by the Optometrists, obtaining medical and personal data for the patient's chart, and alleviating patient concerns by explaining diagnostic procedures.
- Diagnostic Testing: Performing preliminary screening examinations including peripheral visual field testing using the FDT, intraocular pressures using the NCT, Keratometry readings, refraction using the Autorefractor, and Retinal photography using the Optomap.
- Vision Measurement: Measuring patient acuity with and without glasses for distance and near vision, obtaining optical lensometry measurements, and putting readings into the Phoropter.
- Patient Education: Instructing patients on the proper techniques used in caring for, inserting, and wearing contact lenses.
- Clinical Maintenance: Maintaining all equipment so that it is clean for each patient use, opening and closing exam rooms, taking inventory, and stocking supplies.
What We're Looking For
- Experience & Education: A High School Diploma is required. While prior experience in a medical office setting is a plus, it is not required. We are fully willing to train the right candidate! (Holding a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is also a major plus).
- Knowledge & Tech-Savvy: Basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and HIPAA compliance is highly desired.
- Patient Care: A highly customer service-oriented professional who brings a great attitude and interacts well as part of a team.
- Administrative Skills: Accurate typing skills and excellent organizational skills to keep the clinic running smoothly.
- Reliability: A consistent team player who is available for a normal work week consisting of forty (40) hours per week.
