Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Optometric Technician / Receptionist to join our eye care team In this role, you will be providing essential clinical support along with technical care of glasses and contact lenses. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help ensure a smooth, efficient patient experience from check-in to exam completion. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine patient care and optical expertise. We see patients of all ages with a special emphasis on pediatrics and traumatic brain injury patients. No experience necessary as we are willing to complete on-site training
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and efficiently handle intake procedures.
- Collect and document visual acuity measurements with precision.
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests and ensuring proper aseptic techniques are followed.
- Assist the optometrists during eye exams by setting up equipment and managing patient flow.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems), ensuring all patient information is accurate, complete, and HIPAA compliant.
- Handle front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and processing payments using retail math skills.
- Support optical sales by educating patients and providing glasses adjustments and repairs
Skills
- Strong knowledge of patient care procedures and optometry fundamentals
- Excellent communication skills for front desk interactions and patient education.
- Ability to perform preliminary measurements accurately and follow aseptic techniques diligently.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
