POSITION DETAILS:

Schedule: Monday – Friday; Overtime as required

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
The Fleet Technician is a newly created role within the Verbio South Bend location, established to support growth of plant-owned equipment maintenance, reliability, and asset structure. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with excellent attention to detail, strong initiative, and a commitment to their workmanship. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Develop the Preventive Maintenance Program for all fleet equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment
- Document repairs, labor, and parts usage in the CMMS
- Build, organize, and maintain CMMS asset structure & inventory
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs as needed
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Conduct safety and DOT inspections as required
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and parts diagrams
Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintenance of all plant-owned equipment including articulating boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, heavy equipment, diesel machines, UTVs, and plant vehicles *Includes tires, brakes, engine repairs, suspension, transmissions, hydraulic troubleshooting (including cylinder rebuilding), diesel engine/emissions systems, inspections, and scheduled preventive maintenance*
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Communicate equipment condition and repair needs to supervisors
- Identify equipment spare parts & coordinate inventory levels with warehouse team
- Maintain preventive maintenance cycles
- Complete work orders with detailed documentation
- Adhere to Company safety policy: LOTO, PPE, and safe work practices
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant combustion engine (gasoline/diesel) mechanical and electrical repair experience
- 3 years of relevant diagnostic software/tool experience
- 3 years of relevant fleet/equipment maintenance experience
- 1 year CMMS experience - repair log/parts inventory
- Welding and fabrication experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE Certification
- IFPS Hydraulics Certification
- Low-voltage DC electrical and controls experience (6V/12V/24V)
- EPA 609 M-VAC certification
- OEM training: Cummins, Kubota, Yanmar, CAT, Allison, etc.
- Line bore machining experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
- Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
- Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.

South Bend Ethanol, LLC, is the most recent plant acquisition. As a global leader in the renewable energy industry, this will be Verbio’s second US production facility following the successful commissioning of its Nevada, IA plant. The site will be developed over the next three years incorporating Verbio’s advanced engineering and operating technology practices.
