            FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt
           Schedule: 12-hour rotation days only.
            Location: 59219 Lincoln Hwy Nevada, IA 50201
            Travel: No Travel
 
WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
This role will focus on the safe and efficient movement of ethanol to transportation vehicles at our Nevada, Iowa plant. This includes product sampling, the internal and external inspection of tanks, the operation and positioning of railcars and documentation of transportation records for compliance.  The Ethanol Day Loader will report directly into the Production Manager.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Takes samples of product from trucks and railcars and seals such following completion of lab analysis, and loading to ensure correct content, volume, temperature and weights
  • Performs duties in a safe manner utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completing all safety certification requirements, including DOT hazardous shipping requirements
  • Properly record, close, tighten and seal trucks and railcars loaded with ethanol and corn oil after loading and inspection. Verifies 100% securement of shipments.
  • Opens and seals hatches and unload doors, cleaning and installing proper gaskets
 
Responsibilities:
  • Communicates with co-workers in person and using two-way radios or similar equipment
  • Inspects interior of tanks for cleanliness and exterior for leaks or damage
  • Monitors processes to ensure the efficient transfer of product to transportation vehicles
  • Verify tank numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars by crew
  • Complete inspection reports after checking trucks and railcars
  • Operates a rail locomotive, positioning cars in appropriate sequences to receive product
  • Cleans up spills in area
  • Completes related records of product transferred, ensuring the accuracy of such records and inputs related data into computer
  • Performs preventive maintenance duties on department equipment or notifies department supervisor of needed repairs
  • Inspects rupture disc, vacuum relief valve, rubber gaskets on valves and cover plates, and replace defective parts
  • Works in teams to coordinate tasks to efficiently and accurately load products into rail cars or trucks
  • Operates skid loaders, forklift trucks, shuttle wagon, locomotive and related equipment
  • Cleans and operate switch tracks in rail yards to move railcars
  • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner
  • Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by attending staff meetings and discussing ideas with co-workers and management
  • Communicate by using approved hand signals and two-way radios
Qualifications:
  • Equipment operation including railcar movement
  • Self-starter with good attendance and work ethic
  • Ability to solve problems with attention to detail
  • Material handling, forklift or skid loader operation
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule.
  • High school diploma, GED or related experience/training
 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
  • Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
  • Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.

ABOUT US:
The VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial-scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation.
RNG production with a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. The site began operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million gallons of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company’s facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.
