Key Responsibilities
Infection Prevention Leadership
- Direct all operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
- Lead annual risk assessments, goal-setting, and program planning.
- Maintain continuous readiness for regulatory surveys (CMS, Joint Commission, State Health Dept.).
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements from:
- CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services)
- CDC/NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network)
- State and local public health agencies
- Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of mandated infection reporting.
- Oversee surveillance processes for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
- Direct the collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation of infection control data.
- Identify trends and recommend corrective or preventive interventions.
- Provide infection prevention guidance to clinical leaders, physicians, and staff.
- Participate in quality, safety, and performance-improvement committees.
- Support outbreak investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
- Develop and deliver training programs on infection prevention, standard precautions, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure competency assessment for staff in infection control practices.
- Maintain and update infection control policies and procedures to align with CDC, APIC, OSHA, and CMS standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Education (Required):
- Master's degree in Nursing, Education, Epidemiology, Public Health, Clinical Microbiology, or another health-related field (Required).
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in a healthcare environment (Required).
- 2 years of experience in Infection Prevention or Epidemiology leadership (Required).
- Current national Certification in Infection Control (CIC) - Required.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention principles and epidemiology.
- Proficiency with CDC, AHRQ, CMS, TJC, OSHA, and NHSN standards.
- Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and performance-improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain regulatory readiness at all times.
