Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Educational Leadership
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver education programs for OR staff (RNs, Surgical Techs, ancillary staff)
- Develop orientation and ongoing competency-based training programs
- Assess learning needs and implement targeted development plans
- Serve as a clinical resource for new techniques and surgical advancements
- Scrub into surgical cases to mentor staff and support procedures
- Ensure adherence to sterile techniques and AORN guidelines
- Maintain competency in both scrub and circulating roles
- Apply nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Partner with Patient Care Directors and leadership teams
- Support staff development and professional advancement
- Participate in hospital committees as an education consultant
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Required
- Active RN License - Illinois
- 4 years of OR / Surgical Services experience
- Strong expertise in:
- Sterile technique & aseptic practices
- Scrub nurse responsibilities across specialties
- Surgical procedures and patient safety
- CNOR Certification
- ACLS (or within 1 year of hire)
- Experience in clinical education / training roles
- Strong clinical judgment & critical thinking
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication (verbal & written)
- Ability to work in fast-paced surgical environments
- Commitment to patient-centered care
- Surgical Services / Operating Room
- Requires standing for extended periods in sterile conditions
