Interventional Radiology (IR) services, including advanced neurosurgical interventions that enhance stroke response and thrombectomy capabilities.

The Radiology Interventional Technologist performs high-level IR procedures while assisting Interventional Radiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Neurosurgeons, and Diagnostic Imaging RNs. This role requires strong clinical skills, procedural competency, and a commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care.

The Senior Radiology Interventional Technologist holds additional responsibilities in department development, training, workflow coordination, IR supply oversight, compliance preparation, and supporting quality and safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

Interventional Radiology Procedures

• Assist physicians (Interventional Radiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Neurosurgeons) during IR procedures with proficiency and accuracy.
• Prepare patients, rooms, supplies, and equipment for IR and neurosurgical interventions.
• Ensure proper radiation safety and aseptic technique during procedures.
  
  

Patient Care

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients undergoing interventional radiology or vascular procedures.
• Evaluate patient condition and assist with monitoring during procedures.
• Maintain patient comfort, confidentiality, and safety at all times.
  
  

Imaging & Equipment Operations

• Operate imaging systems and IR equipment efficiently and safely.
• Collaborate with RNs and physicians to support high-quality imaging outcomes.
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment and reporting malfunctions.
  
  

Departmental Workflow & Compliance (Senior Role Additional Duties)

• Participate in scheduling coordination and workflow optimization.
• Support IR supply chain management and inventory oversight.
• Assist with compliance and readiness for:
• Department of Health
• Joint Commission
• Radiation Safety & dosimetry
• Environment of Care audits
• Contribute to policy and protocol development.

Training & Leadership (Senior Role Additional Duties)

• Provide training and mentorship to IR Technologists.
• Offer clinical guidance and support departmental growth.
• Participate in the development of IR best practices and quality initiatives.
  
  

Required Skills & Certifications

Required

• Washington Radiologic Technologist Certification
• ARRT - Registered Technologist in Radiography (R.T.(R))
• BLS - American Heart Association
  
  

Preferred

• ARRT - Vascular Interventional (VI) or Cardiac Interventional (CI) certification
• Experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab
• Experience assisting Neurosurgeons, Interventional Radiologists, or Vascular Surgeons
• Experience with IR supply management, scheduling, or compliance processes
• Experience training or precepting IR technologists (for Senior role)
  
  

Experience Requirements

• 1 year of experience in radiology (IR experience preferred)
• Experience supporting interventional radiology or vascular surgical procedures
• Senior Role: 3 years of IR experience recommended, plus leadership or training experience
