Key Responsibilities
Interventional Radiology Procedures
- Assist physicians (Interventional Radiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Neurosurgeons) during IR procedures with proficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare patients, rooms, supplies, and equipment for IR and neurosurgical interventions.
- Ensure proper radiation safety and aseptic technique during procedures.
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients undergoing interventional radiology or vascular procedures.
- Evaluate patient condition and assist with monitoring during procedures.
- Maintain patient comfort, confidentiality, and safety at all times.
- Operate imaging systems and IR equipment efficiently and safely.
- Collaborate with RNs and physicians to support high-quality imaging outcomes.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment and reporting malfunctions.
- Participate in scheduling coordination and workflow optimization.
- Support IR supply chain management and inventory oversight.
- Assist with compliance and readiness for:
- Department of Health
- Joint Commission
- Radiation Safety & dosimetry
- Environment of Care audits
- Contribute to policy and protocol development.
- Provide training and mentorship to IR Technologists.
- Offer clinical guidance and support departmental growth.
- Participate in the development of IR best practices and quality initiatives.
Required
- Washington Radiologic Technologist Certification
- ARRT - Registered Technologist in Radiography (R.T.(R))
- BLS - American Heart Association
- ARRT - Vascular Interventional (VI) or Cardiac Interventional (CI) certification
- Experience in Interventional Radiology or Cath Lab
- Experience assisting Neurosurgeons, Interventional Radiologists, or Vascular Surgeons
- Experience with IR supply management, scheduling, or compliance processes
- Experience training or precepting IR technologists (for Senior role)
- 1 year of experience in radiology (IR experience preferred)
- Experience supporting interventional radiology or vascular surgical procedures
- Senior Role: 3 years of IR experience recommended, plus leadership or training experience
- Interventional procedure proficiency
- Radiation safety & dose management
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Ability to operate IR imaging systems
- Critical thinking, adaptability, and teamwork
- Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical workflow
- Ability to support compliance and accreditation standards
