Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, efficient, team-based, patient-focused care under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities may include managing patients in the office, hospital, ED, or perioperative setting, first assisting in surgeries, performing urgent care specific procedures, and supporting departmental operations. - Perform comprehensive physical examinations, review patient history, and compile medical data
- Administer or order diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, ECGs) and interpret results
- Perform therapeutic procedures: suturing, wound care, injections, immunizations, infection management
- Perform urgent care and department-specific diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
- Develop and implement patient management plans and document all care in EMR
- Educate and counsel patients and families on preventive care and treatment plans
- Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed
- First assist in surgeries or perform other applicable procedures
- Round on inpatients and conduct pre-/post-operative evaluations
- Support supervising physicians with on-call responsibilities as applicable
- Collaborate with clinical teams on performance improvement initiatives
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Urgent Care or Emergency Department (some listings indicate preference for 3 years; 1 year minimum required)
- Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
- California Physician Assistant License Required at hire
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) Required at hire
- Physician Assistant National Certificate (e.g., NCCPA) Required at hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
- Fluoroscopy Permit required or must be obtained within 18 months (Orthopedics, IR, Radiation Oncology only)
