Senior Commissioning Engineer Location: Kilkenny Headoffice. But you will be based across Ireland specifically the North West but this may be subject to change based on frameworks from our client Duration: Permanent Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm Overview of the Role: Due to continued growth within the Water Division, Veolia Ireland is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Commissioning Team. This senior role involves leading and coordinating the commissioning of complex Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across Ireland. You will act as the technical authority for commissioning, ensuring that all systems are designed, installed, and tested in accordance with project, client, and regulatory requirements. As a senior member of the Commissioning team, you will mentor junior engineers, support project managers, and drive continuous improvement in commissioning methodologies. You will be a key contributor to project delivery, technical excellence, and client satisfaction. Day to Day of the Role: The role involves commissioning of Water, Wastewater and Sludge treatment Plants, including setup/calibration of instrumentation, variable speed drives, alarm systems and PLC input/output validation. Supervision of electrical and automation sub-contractors on sites well as on occasion inclusive of mechanical sub-contractors Responsible for ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with both contractual and specific process requirements Assist the Commissioning Manager with proposals and tendering activities Supporting Project Managers within the business with all commissioning activities Liaise with clients and client representatives Carry out FAT and SAT tests with the client's representative. Evaluate client specifications and Veolia control philosophies and ensure works are constructed in compliance with the same Ensure the works are constructed in accordance with national and EU standards and also meet Veolia’s internal company standards. Assist in the selection and evaluation of EICA equipment, subcontractors and suppliers Ensure that all EICA documentation for the project is managed in accordance with the requirements of the Project Quality Plan Prepare commissioning plans, reports, SAT & FAT documentation and operation and maintenance manuals Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site Prepare timely and accurate reporting of activities to the Commissioning Manager Manage and supervise subcontractor on site Provide assistance and training to junior commissioning engineer Coordinate commissioning progress with site team of project and report back to the Commissioning Manager Required Skills for the Role: NFQ Level 8 or above in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent (Essential). Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commissioning and supervising Water/Wastewater or process industry projects (Essential). Proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary commissioning teams. Excellent understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and process automation. Strong stakeholder management and client engagement skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools (e.g., MS Project). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Full, clean driving licence (Essential).
