What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Supervisor / Lead position at Venue 142?
About Us BakeChop Catering & Events is the leading catering company in the area, specializing in both intimate gatherings and large-scale events. We host events in-house at our beautiful downtown venue and run a busy offsite catering operation throughout the region. No two events are alike — and we love it that way.
Position Overview This is an as-needed, on-call position — and that's the point. Some weeks we have three events in a single day; other weeks are quiet. This is an excellent opportunity for supplemental income or a high-quality side hustle for the right hospitality professional. You'll be called when we need you and well-compensated for your time.
When you're working, you're fully in it. You'll supervise and roll up your sleeves alongside the team — leading the floor one event, bartending the next, and loading the truck the morning after that. The right person leads by example and keeps their cool when the pressure is on.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of in-house and off-site catering events
- Serve as the lead point of contact on the floor, ensuring service exceeds client expectations
- Drive company trucks and vehicles to and from event locations
- Load and unload equipment, supplies, and catering items before and after every event
- Work across roles as needed — server, bartender, floor lead, event staff
- Supervise and guide event staff during events, assigning roles and maintaining quality
- Handle cash transactions accurately; comfortable with point-of-sale systems
- Adapt to each client's unique needs — every event and every client is different
- Proactively identify and resolve issues before they reach the client
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, serving ware, and equipment post-event
- Maintain a calm, steady presence in high-pressure situations
Qualifications
- Catering experience required; FOH management experience at a restaurant strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must be comfortable with physical demands: lifting and carrying heavy equipment, loading/unloading trucks, standing for long shifts, and working in varied environments — this is a very hands-on role
- Available on an as-needed basis, primarily evenings and weekends
- Reliable, punctual, and professional when called upon
- Comfortable handling cash
- A natural problem-solver who stays calm under pressure
- A team player — no task is beneath you
Gratuity & Tips Gratuity is not included or expected, but when it is given, it is always fully shared among the staff. Cash tips are split equally between all team members. Credit card gratuity is distributed proportionally based on hours worked.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay — excellent supplemental income
- True schedule flexibility: work when we have events, off when we don't
- A great side hustle for hospitality pros who want quality extra income without a rigid schedule
- A close-knit, supportive team
- We will train the right person who brings the right attitude and experience
