Position Details:
- Job Title: Product Owner / Portfolio Manager
- Location: Des Moines, IA 50309 (Local candidates only)
Role Overview:
This role requires close collaboration with business and IT leadership, managing cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement through performance data and user feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of IT products and applications aligned with business needs
- Act as Product Owner across the full product lifecycle
- Collaborate with SMEs, vendors, and internal teams to define scope and deliver solutions
- Maintain product backlogs and roadmaps aligned with strategic goals
- Oversee releases, monitor performance, and manage risks
- Track KPIs and ensure compliance with governance standards
- Manage vendor relationships and SLA adherence
- Oversee budgets, financials, and product reporting
- Lead cross-functional (fusion) teams and ensure effective delivery
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and reviews
- Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and product enhancements
- Partner with leadership and stakeholders to align product priorities
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years in Project Management (scope, budget, timeline, resources)
- 2 years in Product Ownership / Portfolio Management
- 5 years in requirements gathering and documentation
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
- 5 years working with vendors and managing relationships
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Experience leading Agile teams and backlog prioritization
- IT vendor management experience
