Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Medical Assistant to support our ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and a thorough understanding of ophthalmic procedures. As an integral part of our team, you will assist with patient intake, perform vital signs, and support physicians in delivering exceptional eye care services.
Duties
- Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history and updating records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms.
- Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Prepare examination rooms using aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment for ocular procedures.
- Assist ophthalmologists during exams by handling instruments, managing patient positioning, and facilitating diagnostic tests.
- Educate patients on ocular health, medication usage, and post-procedure care while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy.
- Support administrative tasks at the front desk such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical records.
- Maintain inventory of ophthalmic supplies and ensure proper storage according to safety standards.
- Utilize optical experience to assist with frame selection or lens measurements when applicable.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
