Job Description:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for gathering and documenting patient screening data, obtaining vitals, preparing charts, drawing labs, maintaining their area, assisting providers, and other various activities needed to ensure patient care is prioritized. This role provides patients with safe, quality care throughout their treatment and disease process.
Essential Functions:

Key Responsibilities:
Escorts patients to triage, infusion, or physician exam area.
Ensure that pre-infusion labs are obtained according to lab protocols.
Obtains vital signs, weight, and height. Accurately enters information in the EMR.
Assists with renewing prescriptions.
Verifies necessary information and records in the medical record.
Prepares patients for infusion, depending on patient and clinical condition.
Tracks patients through entry to the next point of service.
Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing as needed.
Completes accurate and timely charting as needed for communication.
Completes billing events before the end of shift accurately and timely.
Administers injections to patients, under the direction of a nurse or provider. The MA must ensure that a nurse or provider has assessed the patient and given direct instruction prior to the administration of shots.
Performs laboratory work and draws specimens per physician’s order.
Reviews registration sheets with new patients to ensure completion of history. Enter medications in EMR/chart. Reviews allergies and enters allergies in EMR/chart.
Complies with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the clinical laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of medical experience required.
Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Great Customer Service Skills.
Previous experience with OncoEMR preferred.
Previous Oncology/Hematology experience preferred.
Ability to travel between office locations as needed.
Pay Range: $23.50-$29.00/hr
