QA Lead - Tipton - 1st Shift (71644)

Job Summary

The QA Lead is the primary person responsible for the training of all new technicians and retraining of existing technicians. Additionally, the Lead is the backup for the Microbiologist, QA Tech II, Peel Technician as well as the Oil Lab technicians. The position is a working Lead and is expected to perform analysis of inbound tankers, outbound tankers, and batches for all analytical tests. The QA Lead reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. The QA Technician Lead generally works 1^st shift but may work any shift. In the absence of the QA Lead, the QA Supervisor or Manager may perform their job duties.

What you will do in this role

• Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor or the supervisor in charge during their shift.
• Train all new technicians in their duties, retrain, and validate training for existing technicians.
• Execute GC, Autotitration analysis for Oils and HPLC for limonin as a backup for the Oil Technician II.
• Execute Microbiological analysis as a backup for the Microbiologist.
• Execute QA Tech II job duties as necessary due to absences or vacations.
• Execute Peel Technician duties as necessary due to absences or vacations.
• Document CCP’s such as: Tanker Inspection Reports. Perform verification review for HACCP documentation in the absence of the QA Supervisor.
• Create production batches for an offline product.
• Review labels for packaging per DSR.
• Review calibration records all laboratory equipment daily.
• Prepare customer samples for shipment per SSR.
• Provide support to Document control.
• Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices.
• Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
• Act professionally toward co-workers, customers, vendor’s or other visitors to the plant.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality, and a positive attitude.
• Perform other duties as assigned and required.
• Participate in the We Got This Program.
• Perform a weekly inventory of Lab supplies, including re-stocking supplies from the warehouse.

What You will Bring to this Role

• Five plus (5 ) years of experience in a food processing environment.
• High school graduate; prefer college-level course work in chemistry or other sciences or Associate’ Degree.
• HACCP certification a must (may be obtained on the job)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and large ERP applications
• Ability to work successfully in a team involvement environment is a must
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment including but not limited to auto refractometer and centrifuge.
• Ability to perform plant-level calibrations on equipment and work with vendors on contracted calibrations.
• Ability to train new QA technicians and Peel Technicians

The Physical Requirements of this role

• The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must.
• 70% Routine Laboratory analysis
• 20% Computer data entry
• 10% Walking, auditing facility, climbing up Tanker ladder.
