Hourly Rate: $27.65 (Overtime and weekends may be required)
We are hiring for a Flex Shift position which will cover all three shifts where needed.
Shift: 1st Shift 6am - 2:30pm
Shift: 2nd Shift 2pm - 10:30pm | Shift Differential $0.40 hour
Shift: 3rd Shift 10pm - 6:30am | Shift Differential $0.80 hour
Job Summary
The oil recovery operator works under the direction of the supervisor and group leader and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a battery of separators designed to recover essential citrus oils during the fresh fruit production process. The objective of the operator is to maximize efficiency and to monitor sanitary needs of each separator. The oil recovery operator may be required to work any shift and may cross train with other operators. In the absence of this position, the Group Leader will perform these job duties or cover 12-hour shifts with other oil operators.
Primary Responsibilities
- Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor or the supervisor in charge during their shift.
- Monitor each separator to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Monitor Extraction flows through spray rings to watch for plugging
- Add Enzymes to recycle water tank that feeds spray rings
- Ensure correct and number of enzymes are added per Emulsion tank
- Work with maintenance through overhaul season
- Climb 3 flights of stairs to Supervisor office and Extraction deck
- Clean and sanitize equipment as necessary.
- Fill and label oil barrels as needed.
- Operate a forklift to move products in a safe, efficient manner.
- Complete daily forklift checks
- Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
- Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices.
- Climb 2 separate ladders to tank platforms
- Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other plant visitors.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude always.
- Keep area tidy and clean
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor of group leader.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Basic computer skills such as the ability to read a computer touch screen.
- Ability to read and understand DSR for oil blends.
- Possess a valid forklift license or the ability to obtain one.
- At least one year’s experience in a plant manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must.
- 80% of the time walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders in a normal plant environment.
- 20% of the time may be on a forklift.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
