Hourly Rate: $28.05 (Overtime and weekends may be required)
We are hiring for a Flex Shift position which will cover all three shifts where needed.
Shift: 1st Shift 6am - 2:30pm
Job Summary
The fruit processing operator works under the direction of the group lead person and with the other fruit process operators. The position will provide floor support to ensure that the JBT extractors are running properly to maximize fruit throughput, recovery of juice and biproducts.
In addition, this position will operate the pasteurizer when it is needed. The position will also learn additional positions in fruit processing and serve as overall support for break and lunch relief to the operator and fruit graders as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment as needed per the cleaning schedule using CIP skid.
- Walk up 3 flights of stairs to workstation or deliver samples to Lab.
- Monitor JBT conveyor line to ensure that extractors are running properly.
- Responsible to a specific CCP in the HACCP plan regarding:
- CCP #1 – Pasteurization of NFC & Pulp
- Monitor Separators and De-oiler to achieve specific production objectives.
- Assist with Fruit Grading during loads requiring heavy culling.
- Assist in the dismantling and cleanup of extractors and cleanup of the grading table.
- Responsible for essence collection, packaging, and recording.
- Provide break and lunch relief to operators and fruit graders as required.
- Operate and own the pasteurizer process.
- Take hourly samples to ensure we target customer specifications.
- Adjust equipment to target customer specifications.
- Learn other equipment and positions as time allows.
- Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all personal protective equipment.
- Report all Hazards to Supervisor/Manager or enter in Industry Safe.
- Follow all personal hygiene and food safety/quality practices.
- Act professionally towards customers, visitors and vendors.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality, and a positive attitude.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor or group leader.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Must have a forklift license or the ability to obtain one.
- Basic computer skills such as the ability to operate a computer touch screen.
- Previous extraction and pasteurizing experience preferred.
- One year of experience in a plant manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work any shift including weekend shifts.
- 90% standing or climbing stairs in a normal manufacturing environment.
