OPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Processing Operator is responsible for ensuring the accurate grading, sorting, sizing, and or shelling of walnuts in accordance with established both company quality standards and customer specifications. This role operates and monitors electronic sorting, air separation, sizing equipment or shelling to maintain a consistent workflow, reduce downtime, and optimize production efficiency. By upholding strict quality control practices, following safety protocols, and collaborating closely with production team members, the Processing Operator supports Nutrinut Company’s commitment to delivering a premium product with accuracy, consistency, and care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform pre-operation checks prior to the start of production to verify equipment readiness, safety compliance, and proper line setup.
· Set up processing lines in accordance with established planned instructions, ensuring all equipment, materials, and products are properly prepared.
· Promptly notify their direct Supervisor of any equipment malfunctions or concerns to ensure timely repairs and minimal downtime.
· Organize and manage break and lunch rotations in accordance with California labor laws and company policies to maintain compliance and productivity.
· Communicate regularly with their supervisor and or Manager to confirm production schedules, start times, and any adjustments required during operations.
· Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth transitions during product style changes and lot adjustments, minimizing delays and errors.
· Communicate with the Packaging Department Lead to confirm what is available to meet production needs.
· Maintain constant communication with the Floor Supervisor to support consistent product quality, accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
· Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred; ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
· Familiarity with workplace safety principles and best practices in warehouse or production environments.
· Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-volume setting and remain effective under pressure.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain quality standards.
· Clear and effective verbal communication skills for interacting with supervisors, team members, and cross-department staff.

· Team-oriented, service-focused attitude with a willingness to support coworkers and adapt as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma and or its equivalence.
· 2-plus years of operational experience in manufacturing nut commodities is preferred.
· Excellent communication with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, goals, and results to superiors.
· Intermediate problem-solving skills; able to assist with creative solutions to unique challenges with experience.
· Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and meet constant deadlines with strong attention to detail and quality control.
· Shelling, optical sorting, and or nut food manufacturing experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand for periods of time at workstation, and climb stairs at high heights. Ability to work and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated by the company. Primary work environment will be in an office setting. Some work includes being inside the plant manufacturing environment, which may include high levels of noise, working outside where the environment includes exposure to hot, cold, and inclement weather.
