Controls Engineer

A leading automotive supplier near Findlay, Ohio is seeking a Controls Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering competitive compensation, bonus potential, comprehensive benefits, paid holidays, and paid vacation.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Fanuc Robotics within a manufacturing environment. This position will play a key role in supporting automation systems, improving production performance, troubleshooting controls-related issues, and leading continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and implement PLC and robot programming to improve manufacturing performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Support, troubleshoot, and optimize Allen-Bradley control systems, Fanuc robots, HMIs, and related automation equipment.
- Provide technical expertise for electrical and controls-related issues to minimize downtime and reduce scrap.
- Design, install, maintain, and improve machine controls and automation systems throughout the plant.
- Participate in new equipment launches, APQP activities, equipment buyoffs, and automation projects.
- Support continuous improvement and poka-yoke initiatives focused on process reliability and product quality.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Tool & Die, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams to resolve technical issues.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control drawings, and documentation using AutoCAD.
- Train operators and maintenance personnel on robotic and automated equipment operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist with plant electrical power distribution and automation infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of Controls Engineering or Robotics Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Fanuc Robots is required.
- Experience supporting automated production equipment, robotics, and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of ladder logic programming, machine controls, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Automotive manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with metal stamping, robotic welding, or assembly operations is a plus.
