Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist supports daily accounting operations for an automotive manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for accounts payable and receivable, general ledger support, reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts
- Support cost accounting activities related to manufacturing operations
- Track and analyze inventory, labor, and overhead costs
- Maintain accurate financial records in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards)
- Assist with audits and provide requested financial documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX, and company accounting policies
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, and operations teams
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or automotive environments
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting
- Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and inventory reconciliation preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)
- Experience using ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis
- Experience with automotive supply chain or OEM/Tier 1 environments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
