Grounds Maintenance III

SUMMARY

This position will perform a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction.   This role will perform semi-skilled ground construction and maintenance work related to our golf courses. Maintains golf course by mowing, trimming, edging, top dressing, treating turf and maintaining ball washers; mows fairways, putting greens, tees, and rough; maintains and performs repairs to the irrigation system; changes cups and tee markers; trims trees; pulls weeds; plants flowers, shrubs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general landscape maintenance using handheld equipment.
•  Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming, and mowing.
• Involved with tasks related to course detail (weed and debris clean up).
• Operates walking equipment for mowing greens collars and tees.
• Assists with golf course set-up procedures.
• Assists with fertilizer applications on tees, fairways, and rough areas.
• Operates utility vehicles for hauling material and removing debris.
• Operates riding equipment in mowing fairways, approaches and rough.
• Operates sod cutter, trencher, and tamper for routine projects.
• Operates equipment safely and is aware of associates and their prospective work areas.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Perform skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.).
• Maintain flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the department manager.

 Skills/ Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.

Education/Experience:

• One -month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.  
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors). 
• Must be able to work around chemicals, dust, fumes and/or odor hazards. 
• Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens.
• Must be able to work in a loud environment and in areas near moving mechanical parts.
