Route Supervisor
Come join our GROWING team!! Velvet Ice Cream is now hiring for a Route Supervisor to work within our Distribution Department. As a full-time Velvet Ice Cream Company route supervisor, you are responsible for the timely and efficient delivery of products manufactured and distributed by Velvet in the assigned territory, consistent with the direction provided by the Regional Sales Manager.
The Route Supervisor oversees the day-to-day distribution operations for the territory and supervises the drivers who deliver and service the store accounts according to a set schedule. The Route Supervisor and Regional Sales Manager are responsible for setting, communicating and monitoring job performance expectations for their direct reports. Job performance deficiencies are expected to be addressed promptly and consistently.

Responsibilities
- With the assistance, or at the direction of the Regional Sales Manager, interview, hire, and train all route personnel in compliance with the structured interview process.
- Provide regular and consistent feedback to each driver, and hold them accountable for their job performance.
- Provide daily assistance to resolve delivery problems and timing issues.
- Insure that all drivers are compliant with current PUCO & DOT regulations.
- Establish procedures as needed for employee call-ins (sick) and route relief coverage for sickness, vacation, etc….
- Ensure that all routes are serviced normally during vacations / holidays.
- Investigate, resolve and record all customer complaint issues with route / delivery operations.
- Maintain employee records as required by law and / or company policy.
- Oversee proper use and maintenance of all company vehicles (trucks & cars) assigned to the location.
- Take corrective actions as needed to maintain fleet vehicles.
- Maintain local facilities in a safe and orderly condition.
- Contact and negotiate as needed for local service providers for facility and fleet maintenance.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- HS Diploma or equivalent required.
- 21 years of age or older to meet DOT requirements.
- Valid driver’s license (operator) with a clean BMV report.
- Must be able to secure and maintain a DOT medical card.
- Be a safe and patient driver and perform required maintenance checks on vehicle.
- Climb up and down from the cab and rear of a truck safely throughout the work day.
- Be able to start the work day very early in the morning.
- Work at least 5 days every week and adjust schedules as needed.
- Be able to tolerate sub-zero temperatures for extended time periods.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lb. loads regularly without difficulty or discomfort.
- Be able to drive both automatic and manual transmission equipped vehicles.
