Overview
As a Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for performing high-quality automotive metal fabrication work on pre-1980 vehicles. This role involves precision craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in every project.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Fabrication Manager to identify chassis repairs and review build sheets.
- Request necessary parts from the parts department to ensure timely project progression.
- Perform rust repairs and fabricate custom brackets or mounts as needed.
- Align and place vehicle bodies onto frames, fit mockup parts, and bolt components securely.
- Weld seams and structural components to specified standards.
- Modify parts in accordance with assembly manuals and build sheets.
- Drill holes and install components using precise templates and tools.
- Gap doors, tailgates, grilles, and other body elements to achieve proper alignment.
- Install mockup motors, transmissions, headers, and other critical components.
- Build and install cross members, roll cages, exhaust systems, and other structural elements.
- Conduct fitment checks for transfer cases and other assemblies to ensure proper clearance.
- Maintain high standards of quality, ensuring work is completed efficiently and correctly on the first attempt.
- Support and collaborate with team members to foster a positive work environment.
- Document work by taking clear photographs for customer service and internal records.
- Arrive on time with a professional appearance, ready to work at start of shift.
- Adhere to the company dress code and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Uphold safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation.
- Complete daily SOS/sign off sheet.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG is a plus.
- Expertise in metal shaping using various materials and gauges.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, fabrication tools, and techniques.
- Ability to perform standard shop math, including fractions and decimals.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and inspection processes.
- Experience in fixturing and setting up welding parameters (amps, volts, etc.).
- Skilled in rust repair, panel replacement, and interpreting technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
Education Background and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous metal fabrication experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- A portfolio showcasing prior work is preferred.
Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)
- Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
- Frequently lifting heavy objects, such as tools, parts, or equipment, often weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
- Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
- Moving large or heavy equipment, carts, or vehicles within the shop.
- Precise manipulation of tools, small parts, and diagnostic equipment.
- Continuous use of hands, arms, and fingers for tasks like tightening bolts, sanding, or painting.
- Exposure to loud noises from power tools and machinery.
- Using equipment like impact wrenches or sanders that produce significant vibration.
- Working in non-climate-controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
- Ensuring accuracy in measurements, assembly, and inspections.
- Analyzing and troubleshooting mechanical or structural issues.
- Frequent reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
- Maintaining physical activity throughout the day without fatigue.
- Adherence to safety protocols to avoid injuries from sharp tools, heavy objects, or moving vehicles.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle.
